Dan Wells the owner/operator of Wells Livestock Services has an extensive background in the beef and livestock industries and makes his living by working within the industry. Dan grew up on a purebred Angus operation in Chillicothe, OH and is a partner in his family’s operation. He attended the Ohio State University where he majored in Animal Science with an Ag Business minor, and served as the Select Sires, Inc. Beef Marketing Intern. After college, Dan moved to Staunton, VA where he assumed the position of Executive Director of the historic Virginia Angus Association. During the two and half years at Virginia Angus, Dan oversaw the day to day operations of the association, planned their many events and activities, ran their sale management operation Virginia Sales Services, and launched their graphical design and layout service.
In the Spring of 2008, Dan was presented an opportunity to go to work for Cotton & Associates, the nation’s leading purebred Angus sale management firm, which would also allow him to be more involved in his families Angus operation and pursue personal business ventures such as Wells Livestock Services. Knowing that these type of opportunities don’t come along everyday, Dan jumped at the opportunity.
The idea of Wells Livestock Services, came from the thought that with the changing times of the livestock industry, many producers both large and small are becoming more detailed and specialized in their operations. These operations require a well-defined marketing plan that accurately differentiates them from their competition and spotlights their many strengths. In January 2010 and February 2011 Dan took additional steps in the development and advancement of the business by becoming a dealer for Titan West and Riverode Sales. This allows Dan to better serve his clients by offering them an industry leading lines of livestock handling equipment.
Dan and Mallorey were married in May 2010 and stay busy keeping up with their 2 yr. old son, Garrett. Garrett loves everything that comes with farming from riding in the combine to checking cows. As he gets older he will for sure be dad's lil helper at livestock trade shows. Mallorey is currently finishing her degree in Early Childhood Education. Upon graduation, she hopes to teach kindergarten. When not busy with school Mallorey is actively involved with the day to day busniess of Wells Livestock Services and our cattle operation, Wells Livestock.
